অতি প্রবল ঘূর্ণিঝড় ফনী। যার বাংলা অর্থ একটি সাপের ফণা বর্তমানে একটি শক্তিশালী গ্রীষ্মমন্ডলীয় ঘূর্ণিঝড় হিসাবে ভারত এবং বাংলাদেশের দিকে অগ্রসর হচ্ছে ফনি নামটি দিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ যার অর্থ পূর্বেই বলা হয়েছে ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের নাম দিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ এর অর্থ সাপের ফণা তুলতে পারে এমন প্রাণী দ্বিতীয় নামাঙ্কিত আবহাওয়া ভিত্তি হিসাবে ভারত এর আবহাওয়া দপ্তর আইএমডি প্রথম 2019 এর প্রথম ঘূর্ণিঝড় হিসেবে নির্ধারণ করেছেন এটি ভারতীয় মহাসাগর এর পশ্চিমে অবস্থিত একটি ক্রান্তীয় নিম্নচাপ থেকে উদ্ভূত হয়েছে 26 এপ্রিল ডব্লিউ বি সি উত্তর ভারত মহাসাগরের একটি পর্যবেক্ষণ করে নির্ধারণ করেন।ফনী নামকরণের দুইদিন পরে উত্তর দিকে অগ্রসর হতে থাকে এবং একটি তীব্রতর ঘূর্ণিঝড়ে পরিণত হয় বর্তমানে এর গতিবেগ প্রায় 170 থেকে 190 থেকে বেড়ে 210 কিলোমিটার প্রতি ঘন্টা পর্যন্ত হতে পারে আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে যে এটি আগামী কাল 3 মে উড়িষ্যা উপকূলে আছড়ে পড়বে এবং এর গতিপথ ওড়িশা হয়ে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত রয়েছে তাই পশ্চিমবঙ্গের উপকূলবর্তী জেলা গুলিকে সতর্ক করা হয়েছে সমুদ্রে কোন ব্যক্তি কে স্নান করতে দেয়া হচ্ছে না আগামী দুই দিন ব্যাপকভাবে ঝড়-বৃষ্টি এবং বজ্র বিদ্যুৎ এর আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে। নিম্নে ফনীর গতি প্রকৃতি এবং স্থায়িত্বকাল সম্পর্কে তথ্য দেয়া হল এই তথ্য ইন্ডিয়ান মেট্রলজিক্যাল ডিপার্টমেন্ট থেকে পাওয়া।

Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm Fani (/ˈfɔːniː/; Bengali: ফণী; Odia: ଫଣି; which suggests neck of the woods of a snake') might be a presently strengthening tropical cyclone that is threatening Asian nation and Asian country as a particularly severe cyclonic storm.
